Small Shallot

Nowadays people always pay attention to and try to reach for ‘material’ more than normal things that are surrounded by
whether nature or environment. It would be great if everyone
realizes its benefit turns to help save natural resources and
make the most of its usefulness.

To talk about small shallot, I believe that no one don’t know
anything about this plant since it’s popular ingredient for Thai food.
Most chefs whether male or female use small shallot
as a part of the dish because it can make the dish tastier,
deodorize fishy smell and be an ingredient in many curry paste.
To make spicy meal such as Tom Yum or spicy salad,
small shallot is a must ingredient or even some dessert.
The fast made-to-order chili paste in a weekly market also can’t
miss roasted shallot to be mix with other spices for good
smell and better taste. Nevertheless, the benefits of shallot
is a lot such as healing gastritis, backache, waist ache, and
dysmenorrheal. Eating too much of shallot has no negative
effect to body but a supplement.

Apart from being the supplement that people don’t pay
attention to, the shallot can heal the skin allergy in children
by boiling the shallot with water and mix with bathing water
for children. Bathing with this shallot water for 3-4 weeks, the
symptom will be relief and gradually better. You could see
that the shallot is not only a supplement but also a medicine.

Useful of Cultivated banana

 Cultivated banana (Kluai Namwa)
Kluai Namwa

In Thailand there are plenty types of banana. The type we
are talking about is called ‘Kluai Namwa’. It can be grown
in almost every region in Thailand. Some might grow for
consumption but some has a banana farm that can help
one earn a good living. Former local north eastern people
knew how to make use of Kluai Namwa for a baby by
wrapping smash rice and banana by banana leaves and
grilled and feed the infant with this wonderful meal without
any payment since normally people in the countryside have
some space like a backyard for growing fruits and vegetable
for consuming therefore banana and other vegetable are
grown.

Banana leaves in Thailand are generally used for wrapping
and packing things such as being dessert package. It is a
folk wisdom of Thailand as well as an environmental friendly
idea. It also can be used for Thai dessert package like

Khanom Tien and Khao Tom
Khanom Tien and Khao Tom – a kind of Thai dessert that
the north eastern people always make; or dry it in sunlight
and cut into small pieces about 1.5 – 3 inches along the

length of banana leaves in order to make a local cigarette.
Moreover banana’s root can be medicine; the inner most
of banana’s tree or what people called ‘yuak’ or banana
Yuak(หยวกกล้วย)

stalk can make delicious meal. The ‘yuak’ will be cut in
plates, mix with spring onion, green lettuce and fermented
rice and leave it for a few days then eat it with sticky rice or
Grilled fish
grilled fish.

The taste of it is quite sour however this is one of
yummy and healthy meal of north eastern people’s recipe.
Additionally Kluai Namwa has medicinal quality. An under
ripe banana contains much potassium. A person who has
a diarrhea will loose much of this substance so eating Kluai
Namwa can help gain potassium in some certain extent.

The ripe banana has various necessary nutrients for body
such as in those who has gastritis, the ripe banana could
help coat the stomach by thinly slicing unripe banana, dry in
sunlight, smash into flour and eat in one tablespoon and mix
with warm water to drink.

In addition, Kluai Namwa has commercial advantage like

making different kinds of products such as banana in
coconut milk, fried banana, honey baked banana, banana
chips or an ingredient in a cake. Another benefit of Kluai

Namwa that people might ignore is its peel. Most people
throw banana peel away when it’s no use. Actually they
could be mixed together to make composting and in case of
some lady who has problem with cracked heel, an inner part
of banana peel can heal this by applying it on the cracked
heel for 3-4 days; the cracked heel will begin to be even and
soft, the dead skin will be gradually removed. However it is
restricted to apply on the face since the skin will be damage
and it will turn to be cracked instead. It is clear that banana
could be both a supplement and medicine.
